How to find us from Lisbon Airport
As you leave the airport you will come to a large roundabout with traffic lights. Take the first available right off this roundabout, signposted 2a Circular. This will bring you up onto an urban motorway. Within 1.5 kms you will pick up the blue motorway signs indicating the A8 to Loures/Leiria. Follow this. When you first come off the slip road you will come down to a junction with traffic lights but apparently no direction signs. Go straight ahead at these lights and after the road bears around to the right you will start to pick up signs for the A8.
Keep on this motorway for approximately 73 kms picking up signs for Torres Vedras, Lourinha, Bombarral, Peniche, Obidos and Caldas da Rainha. Leave the A8 at exit 14 for the IP6 signed Peniche (note for SatNav users – the mappers haven’t picked up on the fact that the IP6 has been built yet so will try to take you the old road). Then leave the IP6 at the first exit signed Serra D’El Rei. At the roundabout take the first left towards Serra D’El Rei.
Follow this road for 9 kms until you reach the village of Serra D'El Rei. Turn right in the centre. There is a large blue sign indicating Praia D'El Rey. Follow this road for 1.5kms and take a right turn signed Praia D'El Rey. Follow this road for 4kms through the forest, which will bring you to the resort main entrance.
The motorway is a toll road. At the first toll booth, you must stop (right hand lane) and pick up a ticket. At the second toll booth, you must stop (right hand lane) and pay in cash (note: no credit cards). There are no barriers at the entrance so it is easy to drive straight through! Toll charges in June 2007 were €4.20 each way.
Leave Cascais on the A5 motorway towards Lisbon. After about 15 kms, you will see the blue motorway signs indicating the A9 CREL to Norte. Follow this. Carry on through two tunnels. After the second tunnel take the exit at the bottom of the hill signed A8 Loures/Leiria. Continue as described above from Lisbon.
